I've gone through multiple iterations with and without VMWare Tools (and about 10 host OS reboots) and tracked the problem down to VMWare Tools. It seemed to at first (uninstalled VMWare Tools in Fusion 7 before installing this). Installed tech preview hoping it would fix. I am having a problem where Finder loses the ability to figure out what application to use to properly open documents and OS X clipboard break when I launch a VM. The only one that's causing me pain is (2), as it means I have to work with Windows a little differently. But it seems to take an age for some of the services to start up, specifically VMWare tools - maybe this is related to (2). Once it happens again, I will post an update. Sometimes guests won't start at all, especially if I don't let OSX 'settle' after starting up - can't remember the exact error message but something along the lines of cannot access /dev/mmon or something like that. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing VMWare Tools, plus various display setting options, enabling/disabling separate Spaces in OSX, but Unity just isn't working. The apps appear fine in single window mode, but as soon as I switch to Unity they are displayed as featureless white windows. My Windows 8.1 guest goes into Unity mode, but every window/app I open I just get a white box of the appropriate size. A certificate error occurred while connecting to the update server.". I'm also getting the error "VM Ware Fusion was unable to check for updates. VMWare was working fine, now am experiencing a number of issues. 15:07:40.800 : Failed to load /Applications/VMware Fusion.app/Contents/Library/kexts/VMwareVMCI.kext - (libkern/kext) kext (kmod) start/stop routine failed. I'm getting the following errors in the console when starting Fusion

  • Check for Updates doesn't work reports a certificate error.
  • It takes a few minutes to start my windows VM.

    If I stop my Windows VM I then can't start it again without rebooting the mac because I get the following error "could not open /dev/vmmon".I'm having a number of issues on 10.11 Public Beta
