Well, a short while back a TV box manufacturer by the name of myGica released their own fork of Kodi 17 Krypton for their TV devices, some of which were devices restricted to running Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
The only other options for these people were either a) purchase new hardware, b) Install Abdul’s Lollipop ROM and hope it would work for them and still have internet connectivity or c) ditch Android and run LibreELEC (still our preferred method but that’s just us). This obviously was a hard blow to the people who were still running Android KitKat on devices like the MXQ S805 and such like. As you may already be aware, around the time Kodi 17 Krypton was announced, the team behind it also announced that this new version would only be available on Android devices running 5.0 Lollipop and above.
